Organizations Benefit from Community Gaming Grants

SIDNEY – Several local organizations will benefit from a total of $196,860 in Community Gaming Grant funding to support their community focused work.

“All of these organizations, whether they educate, engage our youth or help the most vulnerable, provide vital services in our communities,” says Saanich North and the Islands MLA Murray Coell. “These groups will use this funding to provide healthy and productive opportunities for residents.”

The organizations receiving Community Gaming Grants are as follows:

  • Percy’s Clubhouse Society
  • The Auxiliary to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital
  • Tigger’s Club Society
  • Anglican Parish of Salt Spring Island
  • Scouts Canada- 1st Tsartlip
  • Fulford Harbour Child Care Society
  • Mayne Island Assisted Living Society
  • Sidney Pre-School
  • Navy League of Canada –Saanich Peninsula Branch
  • Deep Cove Kid Club Society
  • Pender Island Child Care Society
  • Beacon Community Services Society
  • Swova Community Development & Research Society

The Province is allocating $120 million for gaming grants in 2010-2011, up from $113 million last year, to fund approximately 6,000 organizations that benefit communities, including those that assist public safety, youth and disabled sports, people in need, fairs, festivals, museums and community services such as preschools.
